Modern Black and White Rooftop Wedding

filed under  |

Friends, what a treat to share this wedding with you all today! We have another blast from the past – 2018! Although not all that far away, it is crazy just how fast time goes. We know we’re not to have favorites, but Todd and Danielle’s love story is one for the books. And to say our team (or more accurately, me, Leda) cried multiple times during the day is an understatement.

Their Story

Todd & Danielle started dating in high school, and thought for sure they would be high school sweethearts. But, adult life ended up leading them astray. Todd pursued professional music and traveled the world, while Danielle went on to become a doctor.

It wasn’t until eighteen years later, they reconnected online and continued right where they left off. Guys, it was truly a beautiful time with these two! And we don’t just mean the wedding day, but every day leading up to it. They are two souls very clearly in love, and it was evident with every interaction. And now, they have their own little baby girl they get to love together.

Their Wedding Day

They chose Juniper as the venue for their modern celebration, a rooftop venue located in downtown Columbus. We kept their wedding design very minimal, and every aspect of their day was thoughtfully curated to reflect their black and white color palette and rock ‘n’ roll souls.

Danielle chose a stunning Vera Wang wedding gown from local wedding boutique, La Jeune Mariee Bridal. For a short moment, she thought about altering this fluffy train, but we’re so glad she didn’t! The flair was an awesome touch on the sleek, stark white design of the dress, and it made so many portraits pop!

Both bride and groom and their bridal parties got ready at Le Méridien, The Joseph. This is one of our favorite hotels in the Short North area, and its modern architecture was actually the perfect backdrop for their photos getting ready the morning of.

Not only is The Joseph central and have an awesome vibe, the main floor also acted pretty perfectly for some portraits and first looks! Everything about their day had intentional thought behind it, and it’s clear to see in their photos.

Evergreen Flower Co. took Danielle’s vision to a whole other level, with her modern designs for her day. We all went back and forth between all white or white with some black touches, but we’re SO happy with the end result. Absolutely stunning. Wait until you see the ceremony and centerpiece designs, too!

A beautiful, emotional ceremony that was officiated by Todd’s twin brother, ended on a high note with Todd and Danielle’s special handshake.

With their love of rock ‘n’ roll and Todd being the talented musician he is, guests signed old records of some of the couple’s favorite artists.

Their invitation suite, vow books, seating chart and all day-of signage was created by the insanely talented Jenny Sanders. They kept the rock feel strong throughout the design process, including old musicians on the postage.

To bring in a little more of the black and white flair, we accented each table with black salt and honey.

Their bar menu was curated to reflect musicians they loved – each signature drink had the name of a beloved artist: The Hendrix, The Zepplin, and so on.

Their modern cake was thoughtfully created by Miam Cake, complete with white sugar flowers and straight edges and lines!

Todd and Danielle knew from the start of planning their wedding that they didn’t want this to be any kind of “normal” reception – it was to be a rock show. They both serenaded their guests together with a song, and different friends took the stage alongside Todd all night long to play music and rock out.

Their entire day was captured by Little Tree Studios, and yes, keeps us tearing up to this day. Definitely worth a watch, below!

Thank you, Todd and Danielle, for trusting us with your insanely amazing day. It’s one we still treasure, even now.

Cheers!
